West Earlham Woods

By Does Your Duck Quack · Reviewed 20 October 2026

West Earlham, Norwich

West Earlham Woods brings together Twenty Acre Wood and Bunkers Hill Wood, a group of mature wooded spaces almost surrounded by Norwich’s streets and houses. Broadleaved trees, small glades and a narrow connecting belt provide a local woodland birding walk. The conservation Friends identify Nuthatch, Jay, Stock Dove and Wren among the birds, and recommend quiet listening and watching, especially early on spring mornings. The different woodland sections have their own character, from coppiced sycamores to oak and sweet chestnut. Earth paths make it easy to fit a short visit around time in the city.
