Sweet Briar Marshes

Mile Cross and Wensum, Norwich

Sweet Briar Marshes gives Norwich visitors an accessible route into wet meadow, tall fen, hedgerows and scrub beside the River Wensum. The main path links two entrances from Marriott’s Way, with mown paths offering extra short walks. Song Thrush and Sedge Warbler are part of the spring soundscape, while winter can bring Long-tailed Tit flocks, Redwing and Fieldfare. It is a good city-based alternative when there is little time for a coastal journey. The reserve is grazed by cattle and some routes or dog arrangements can change during management work. Use the signed entrances and the nearby public car parks rather than looking for a dedicated reserve car park.
