Dilham Canal and Spa Common

By Does Your Duck Quack · Reviewed 20 October 2026

North Walsham

The canal corridor around Spa Common offers waterside birding close to North Walsham, with reeds, scrub and trees along the old navigation. The local bird club records Cetti’s, Sedge and Reed Warblers, with Kingfisher also reported. Follow the established public walking corridor rather than entering adjoining working land. It is a useful place to listen carefully in spring and summer, when birds can be easier to hear than see, and a gentle waterside contrast to nearby woodland and coast visits.

Birds and seasons

  • Cetti’s Warbler — Typically year-round
  • Sedge Warbler — Typically spring and summer
  • Reed Warbler — Typically April to August
  • Kingfisher — Typically year-round
