Ranworth Broad and Marshes

By Does Your Duck Quack · Reviewed 20 October 2026

Ranworth village, Norfolk Broads · NR13 6HY

Ranworth combines a boardwalk through wet woodland and reeds with open-water views from a floating visitor centre. It is an approachable Broadland stop for someone new to the area, with Marsh Harrier and Kingfisher among the birds present throughout the year. Summer adds Common Tern and Reed Warbler, while winter wildfowl gather on the broad. A hide beside Decoy Dyke provides another public watching place. The walk covers only part of the reserve; operator-led wildlife boat trips offer a different view in their published season. Use the boardwalk and visitor facilities, avoiding approaches into vegetation or any directions towards breeding birds.

Birds and seasons

  • Marsh Harrier — All year
  • Kingfisher — All year
  • Common Tern — Spring and summer
  • Reed Warbler — Typically spring and summer
  • Great Crested Grebe — Typically all year
