Martham Broad and Marshes
West Somerton, near Winterton-on-Sea · NR29 4EB
Martham Broad is a clear-water Broadland landscape where reedbeds, marsh and the River Thurne support a varied range of birds. Public walking is limited to a path around the edge, so plan for an outward-looking visit rather than a circuit through the whole reserve. Marsh Harrier and reedbed birds provide summer interest, while winter brings wildfowl and the possibility of raptors over the surrounding fields. The operator names Bittern, Bearded Tit and Common Crane among its birds. Open water and wider marsh views make binoculars useful throughout the walk. West Somerton provides the approach, with parking restrictions important around the staithe and working farm access.
