Pensthorpe Nature Reserve

By Does Your Duck Quack · Reviewed 20 October 2026

Near Fakenham · NR21 0LN

Pensthorpe combines a wild nature reserve with gardens and family attractions in the Wensum Valley. For birding, follow the reserve trails through wetland, woodland, riverbank and water meadow, with hides overlooking the managed scrape. Wild winter ducks and spring waders provide seasonal variety, and woodland edges add singing migrants in warmer months. The park also keeps captive birds in separate displays: the species listed here concern the wild reserve. It is a practical choice for a mixed-interest day near Fakenham.
