Brett's Wood

By Does Your Duck Quack · Reviewed 20 October 2026

Near Little Snoring, northeast of Fakenham · NR21 0BB

Brett’s Wood is a former conifer plantation where woodland restoration and new heathland clearings are changing the character of a compact site. The circuit follows rides through the trees, giving a different birding experience from Norfolk’s exposed coast. Conifer birds such as Goldcrest and Coal Tit are established here, with Garden Warbler, Blackcap and Willow Warbler adding summer song. Winter can bring Woodcock and Siskin. This is a sensible choice for an unhurried woodland stop on a journey between Fakenham and Holt. Autumn fungi and spring woodland growth add interest when the birds are less conspicuous among the branches.
