Mossymere Wood public footpath

By Does Your Duck Quack · Reviewed 20 October 2026

Between Saxthorpe and Little Barningham

Mossymere is an ancient mixed wood that can be enjoyed from its public footpath. The county club highlights Marsh Tit and a range of familiar woodland birds, including Nuthatch, Treecreeper and Great Spotted Woodpecker. This makes it a useful quieter woodland stop between the larger estates, especially for a slow walk with frequent pauses to listen. The path connects towards Mannington Hall, giving scope for a longer outing where rights of way allow. The surrounding wood is private: the opportunity described here is the public route, rather than general access among the trees.

Paths
The public footpath runs southwest to northeast and connects towards Mannington Hall. Keep to that route; the wood itself is private.
Parking
The club describes limited parking in a couple of wide lay-bys along the B road. Do not obstruct the road or woodland access.

Getting there: Use an available roadside lay-by described by the county guide, then follow the public footpath on foot.
