Holme Dunes sits where The Wash meets the North Sea, with beach, dunes, saltmarsh, pines and grazing marsh giving a wide range of birding habitats. It is especially rewarding for visitors interested in migration: NWT describes Wryneck, Yellow-browed Warbler and Barred Warbler as almost annual visitors. Little Tern is another named species. These are seasonal possibilities, with autumn weather influencing which migrants stop. Follow the permissive routes and current signs because the dunes are vulnerable to erosion and wildlife disturbance. The visitor centre provides a useful start for a longer walk. Summer parking requires advance booking during the operator’s specified peak period.
