Ringstead Downs

Between Ringstead and Hunstanton · PE36 5JZ

Ringstead Downs is a steep-sided chalk valley with flower-rich grassland and a public bridleway linking Ringstead towards Hunstanton. It offers a different landscape from the nearby coast, with views through scrub and along the valley rather than over open water. NWT’s March 2024 guide identifies Yellowhammer, Whitethroat and Linnet, with spring Blackcap and Chiffchaff adding to the bird interest. The current reserve page recommends spring and summer for its wider wildlife. Remain on the authorised route: the adjacent woodland is private. Cattle may graze in winter. For a visitor staying in Hunstanton, this can form an inland walk reached on foot from the town-side approach.
