Swaffham Forest — public-access blocks

By Does Your Duck Quack · Reviewed 20 October 2026

Swaffham

Swaffham Forest comprises several woodland blocks south and west of the town, with conifers, rides and periodically opened ground. NarVOS lists Woodlark, Buzzard and Woodcock through the year, with Tree Pipit and Nightjar in summer and Siskin in winter. Public access applies only to permitted blocks: Forestry England says much of the plan area is leasehold land where public entry is not allowed. A visit should follow signed public routes, with forestry work and private sections respected rather than treating the woodland as one open reserve. Our suggested woodland walk gives time to listen for calls along the rides.
