Narborough Railway Line

By Does Your Duck Quack · Reviewed 20 October 2026

South of Narborough village, off Chalk Lane · PE32 1SR

Narborough Railway Line is a former railway embankment where chalk grassland and scrub now provide a short wildlife walk. It is particularly known for butterflies and flowers, but birders can also listen for Yellowhammer in spring and Whitethroat in summer. The Nar Valley Ornithological Society adds summer Spotted Flycatcher to the site’s attractions. The straight path makes this a compact stop rather than a large reserve circuit, with time to examine the scrub and grassland edges. Access can be suspended while sheep are grazing, so follow the operator’s current notice. It is a useful inland addition to birding around west Norfolk.
