Mayflower Drive, Coventry

Stoke Floods is an eight-hectare local nature reserve centred on a pool formed by mining subsidence. Reed and willow marsh, grassland and woodland broaden the habitat beyond the open water, but winter duck watching is a particularly clear reason to visit. The Wildlife Trust specifically names Tufted Duck, Shoveler and Snipe in winter. Arrive from Mayflower Drive and follow the established paths around the wetland. Generally flat ground should not be confused with a guaranteed dry route: some sections become soft and the reserve can flood during winter.
