River Bure public paths: Burgh to Buxton
Burgh-next-Aylsham, Brampton, Oxnead and Buxton
The River Bure corridor between Burgh, Brampton, Oxnead and Buxton offers public walks through water meadows, river edges, ditches and farmland. The county club describes connected routes using the riverside paths and Bure Valley Path, so these neighbouring village recording areas are combined as one walking destination. Little Egret, Grey Heron and Mute Swan are documented, with Reed and Sedge Warblers in the warmer months. Choose a section to match the time available rather than expecting a reserve circuit. Keep to public paths where the route passes mills, fields and private gardens.
Birds and seasons
- Little Egret — Typically year-round
- Grey Heron — Typically year-round
- Sedge Warbler — Typically April–August

Plan your visit
- Paths
- Follow the signed public riverside and Bure Valley paths. The club describes alternative loops via Oxnead and Buxton; consult the route before choosing your distance.
- Parking
- The club identifies a small Church Lane parking area opposite Burgh church, shared with the Reading Room; park considerately. Stracey Road, Buxton, is another documented starting point.
Getting there: Start at Burgh Church Lane or the club’s Buxton parking option and complete the chosen public-path route on foot.
