Woodgate Nursery and public footpaths

By Does Your Duck Quack · Reviewed 20 October 2026

Aylsham

Woodgate Nursery is an unusual birding stop on the edge of Aylsham, with public nursery areas, a feeding station near the shop and a café. The wider setting includes unimproved farmland, wet meadows, woodland and overgrown hedgerows, crossed by public footpaths. The bird club identifies Blue Tit, Great Tit and Chaffinch as frequent visitors, with Coal Tit especially recorded from summer into early spring. It suits a modest birdwatching visit alongside a nursery or café stop. Access is confined to the nursery’s public areas and public rights of way; the surrounding farmland is not generally open for wandering.

Birds and seasons

  • Blue Tit — Typically all year
  • Great Tit — Typically all year
  • Chaffinch — Typically all year
  • Coal Tit — July–March in club records
