Massingham Heath — public paths
Great Massingham
Massingham Heath is now largely farmland south and west of Great Massingham, with little of the original heath remaining. Winter is the main attraction for birdwatching, with Buzzard, Marsh Harrier and Short-eared Owl among the birds listed by NarVOS. A public path and roadside viewing allow a watch across this open landscape while keeping outside private fields. Our suggestion for a first visit is to spend time scanning the wider sky and field margins rather than walking quickly between viewpoints. A telescope can help with distant raptors; an unhurried scan from a safe position is our suggested way to begin.
