Fairy Glen

Fairy Glen is a wooded walk near Rosemarkie, where a stream runs through a steep-sided valley towards two waterfalls. Buzzard and Grey Heron are named on the RSPB visitor page, while an RSPB local-group account records Chaffinch, Siskin and Blackcap during an April visit. The birdwatching is best combined with a slow walk through the trees. The route is short enough for a focused outing, but steps, gradients and slippery ground make it more demanding than a level riverside path.

Birds and seasons

  • Buzzard — Typically year-round
  • Grey Heron — Typically year-round
  • Chaffinch — Typically year-round
  • Blackcap — Typically spring and summer
