Weston Turville, near Aylesbury

Weston Turville Reservoir has a ring of fen, reedbeds and small woodland around water originally created to feed the Grand Union Canal. The Wildlife Trust names Teal, Shoveler and Tufted Duck among its winter wildfowl. A visit uses the public bank paths and reserve margins, rather than the open water, which is leased to sailing and angling clubs. The old bird hide has been dismantled because it became unsafe; a replacement is being considered, so it should not be part of a visitor’s expectations. The mixed surfaces and wooded roots also make this more demanding than a uniformly level reservoir promenade.
