Wendover

Bacombe Hill is a chalk escarpment reserve immediately above Wendover, with grassland, scrub and small areas of woodland. Red Kite, Green Woodpecker and Chiffchaff are all named in the Wildlife Trust’s reserve profile. Open views over Aylesbury Vale give a different watching setting from the wooded paths below the ridge. The reserve has its own character and boundary east of neighbouring Coombe Hill; it is recorded here as one place rather than as several viewpoints along a walk. Reaching it involves a walk from town and some steep ground, so allow for the approach as well as time on the hillside.
