Northern Naze, Walton-on-the-Naze; approach from Old Hall Lane · CO14 8LE
John Weston is a small reserve at the northern end of the Naze, reached on foot from the public visitor area. Grassland, blackthorn, bramble and ponds offer a different watching experience from the open cliff-top views. The Trust names Lesser Whitethroat, Water Rail and Cetti’s Warbler at the reserve; listening may be as rewarding as scanning the vegetation. Follow the authorised approach to the northern seawall and look south across the reserve. Visitor-centre facilities belong to the starting area, so plan the return walk as part of the visit.
