Little Clacton Road, Great Holland · CO13 0EU

Great Holland Pits brings ponds, old woodland and grassland together in a small former gravel-working landscape. Essex Wildlife Trust names Nightingale for the reserve, alongside Kingfisher, Coot and Little Grebe around the water. The paths weave between habitats and offer different walking distances, so a short outing need not become a complete circuit. Woodland sections can be muddy after rain. Use the reserve's own parking rather than the neighbouring lane: the operator explicitly prohibits parking on Mill Lane. Birds are possibilities supported by the site description, not a live sightings list.
