Broubster Leans

By Does Your Duck Quack · Reviewed 20 October 2026

Thurso · KW14 7RB

Broubster Leans is a wetland within a working farmland landscape southwest of Thurso. Pools, rushy pasture and channels provide a useful contrast to the cliffs and open sea of the Caithness coast. Lapwing and other waders use the wet grassland in spring and summer, while winter brings flocks of wildfowl, including Whooper Swan. The visit is principally a watch across the reserve from the public road and car park, with no formal viewing structure to shelter from Highland weather.

Birds and seasons
