Solway coast between Caulkerbush and Sandyhills Bay

Southwick Coast gives a wooded-cliff perspective on the Solway, with a meadow viewpoint looking across towards Mersehead. Winter brings Greylag, Pink-footed and Barnacle Geese to this coast, while the mix of woodland and saltmarsh makes the setting interesting beyond the goose season. Start with the short path circuit from the reserve entrance and use the clifftop viewpoints for a patient scan. The lower merse has soft ground and concealed water channels, so plan the visit around the established upper route and the conditions on arrival.
