Lambhill, Glasgow, beside the Forth and Clyde Canal

Possil Marsh offers a wetland walk beside the Forth and Clyde Canal at Lambhill. Reed Buntings, Moorhens and Water Rails breed among its marsh, fen and open-water habitats, while spring and autumn migration add interest for watching waterfowl and warblers. The perimeter path provides the way to explore without entering the wetter centre. Begin at the reserve sign near Lambhill Stables, follow the towpath and pick up the reserve waymarkers. Quiet pauses along this approach give a better chance of noticing movement among the reeds.

Getting there: Approach Lambhill on the A879 Balmore Road. The entrance is on the right immediately after the canal, just before the old Lambhill Stables building. Start at the reserve sign; the map pin identifies the wetland rather than a parking space.
