South of Overton village, south Gower
Overton Mere is a coastal grassland-and-scrub reserve above the bay south of Overton village. Limestone turf, gorse, heath and thorn scrub provide a different birding setting from Gower’s wetland hides. The Wildlife Trust specifically names Linnet, Meadow Pipit and Stonechat feeding across this reserve’s grassland and scrub. Their individual seasons are not stated, though spring and summer are the operator’s suggested visiting period. Access is on foot from the village or the coast path, with field gates and a stile to negotiate. Keep to the public route and give the grazing cattle and ponies space.
