Whitchurch, north Cardiff

Forest Farm combines surviving sections of the Glamorganshire Canal with ponds, wetland and woodland beside the River Taff. Cardiff Council lists Kingfisher, Moorhen and Coot at the site, and public bird hides give a focus to a short wildlife visit. The Taff Trail and local path network also allow a longer walk through the different habitats. The canal and farm belong to the same connected nature-reserve outing, reached using its public visitor routes. Watch quietly from the permitted paths and hides, leaving the water margins undisturbed and allowing other visitors room in the viewing areas.
