Near Llancarfan

Coed Garnllwyd is ancient woodland above Llancarfan, with mixed ash and oak, a varied shrub layer and wet flushes on limestone. The Wildlife Trust names Nuthatch and Treecreeper among the woodland birds and Garden Warbler as a summer migrant. It adds an inland woodland stop to a visit around the Vale coast, with public and permissive paths rather than a hide-based watch. Parking is very limited, so the operator recommends walking from Llancarfan village. Expect some steep and muddy stretches, and use the published access routes rather than attempting an approach across neighbouring land.
