Carse of Stirling, near Thornhill

Flanders Moss brings open peatland watching within a defined visitor route west of Stirling. A circular path and boardwalk lead into the bog landscape, while a viewing tower gives a wider perspective. NatureScot’s spring plan names Cuckoo, Willow Warbler and Meadow Pipit; autumn brings the calls of Pink-footed Geese. Take time to listen as well as scan, looking across the mosses and low vegetation from the authorised route. The boardwalk makes the habitat approachable without entering the waterlogged ground. Its quiet atmosphere offers a useful contrast with an oakwood or loch-side birding day.
