Dolydd Hafren offers floodplain birdwatching in a mosaic shaped by the River Severn, with oxbows, wet meadows, reedbeds, willow and arable feeding areas. Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust names Curlew, Tree Sparrow and Water Rail among the reserve’s birds, without assigning individual seasons in its species list. Two elevated hides provide watching places, but both require steep steps. The Trust announced reopening on 10 October 2026 after maintenance. The vehicle track remains exceptionally rough, so check access conditions before setting off and plan a visit suited to unsurfaced paths rather than expecting an easy surfaced circuit.
