Obthorpe Lane, near Thurlby · PE10 0ES

Dole Wood offers a woodland walk reached on foot from Obthorpe Lane. The Trust names Great Spotted Woodpecker, Treecreeper and Blackcap among its birds, alongside other woodland and scrub species. Those records support a visit focused on listening and watching along the perimeter path, without promising a particular sighting. The operator does not give individual seasons for these three birds. The approach is part of the visit: follow the track west from the lane for about five hundred metres to the wood. Expect rough grass, roots and a squeeze-gate entrance. Keep the roadside arrival unobtrusive and allow space for other road users.
