Deeping Lakes is a wetland reserve south-east of Deeping St James, with a main lake and smaller pools formed by quarrying. A hide and circular waymarked route provide public views of the water and its margins. Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust names Common Tern, Great Crested Grebe and Gadwall among the birds recorded here. The tourism authority also describes breeding waterbirds and waders using the lake islands. Move slowly between viewpoints and compare birds across the different pools rather than expecting every species on one visit. The approach is straightforward by road, but path surfaces and gradients need checking before planning a visit with mobility equipment.
