Near Salisbury, Wiltshire
Coombe Bissett Down protects a chalk valley south-west of Salisbury, with bushes and open grassland supporting yellowhammer, goldfinch and skylark named by the Trust. Its varied walking routes give access to the downland slopes and the view across the valley. Cattle and sheep maintain the grassland, and dogs must stay on leads. The reserve offers a mobility-scooter tramper option, but ordinary pushchairs and wheelchairs are not suitable for its terrain. Parking is limited: if the reserve car park is full, the operator specifically asks visitors not to use the Pennings Drove verge, which must remain available for farm and emergency access.
