Coldham’s Lane and Barnwell Road, Cambridge
Coldham’s Common offers a broad city walk with a nature reserve concentrated at the eastern end. The council describes Blackcap and Chiffchaff in the scrub, and Little Egret along the brook. Chalky grassland, woodland and watercourses provide contrasting places to watch. Old coprolite workings have left an undulating landscape rather than a completely uniform field. Choose the wildlife areas and authorised paths from the map, while allowing for grazing animals and wet-weather ground conditions beside the streams.
