Uphall Road and Barnwell Road, Cambridge

Barnwell East combines chalky grassland with hawthorn and blackthorn scrub, plus a pond at its northern end. Cambridge City Council names Kingfisher, Willow Warbler and Blackcap among birds using the reserve. Flowers and pond wildlife add interest to a short walk. Volunteers help manage the grassland, scrub and woodland to maintain varied habitats. The paths are level but grassy, so their suitability for mobility aids depends on dry conditions rather than a promise of a surfaced all-weather route.
