Wort’s Causeway, Cambridge

Beechwoods provides a compact woodland visit on Cambridge's southeastern side, with mature beech trees and younger regeneration in the gaps. Great Spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker and Nuthatch appear in the Wildlife Trust's species list. In years with a good beech-mast crop, the operator also describes Bramblings feeding here. Spring orchids and autumn fungi add other reasons to look closely. This is a woodland walk rather than a staffed reserve centre, reached from the visitor approach on Wort's Causeway.
