Fore Wood

By Does Your Duck Quack · Reviewed 20 October 2026

Crowhurst · TN33 9AG

Fore Wood is ancient woodland reached on foot from Crowhurst village. Oak, Hornbeam and Sweet Chestnut grow around steep little sandstone ravines, with spring Bluebells, Wood Anemones and orchids adding interest. Great Spotted Woodpecker, Marsh Tit and Nuthatch are the bird species featured by the operator. A walk here combines woodland listening with a close look at the changing structure of coppice and mature trees. The approach crosses fields, and the trails include slopes, steps and muddy natural ground. Crowhurst station makes it possible to arrive without using the limited village parking.
