Cow Green, Upper Teesdale
The Cow Green approach provides a public starting point for exploring the Upper Teesdale part of Moor House–Upper Teesdale National Nature Reserve. Natural England names Golden Plover, Curlew and Lapwing among the reserve’s upland birds. The National Landscape’s geotrail begins at Wheelhead Sike car park, with public paths and minor roads giving access to the open landscape. Watch from the permitted route without searching across the moor for birds. This entry covers the County Durham approach to the wider reserve, with a reservoir-side arrival rather than a separate visit to its Cumbrian section.
