Traeth Glaslyn offers an estuary-side birdwatching stop at the eastern end of Porthmadog’s Cob. Saltmarsh, wet grassland and willow woodland change character with the tides, and the Wildlife Trust names Teal, Wigeon and Dunlin among the birds recorded here. A public hide is reached through a small gate near the toll cottage. This is a place where tide conditions determine the visit: the operator warns that the reserve can become completely submerged. Choose the public viewing approach with that warning in mind and keep to the paths.

Getting there: The map pin uses the Trust’s published A497 lay-by grid reference, rather than a point on the tidal marsh. Enter the hide approach only when tide and access conditions permit.
