Thorndon North offers woodland birdwatching around Childerditch Pond and the trees near the Nature Discovery Centre. The council names Brambling, Siskin and Redpoll among its migrant and overwintering birds. Search the branches patiently and compare feeding birds before moving to the next patch of trees. The park's woodland paths also serve walkers, cyclists and families, so choose a stopping place that keeps the shared route clear. The North visitor centre provides a defined arrival for this visit. Give yourself time to return before the park closes, particularly on short winter afternoons.
