Belhus Woods combines woodland watching with lakes and open meadow in a public country park. The council names Mute Swan, Tufted Duck and Kingfisher among its birds, with winter finches adding a seasonal reason to look through the trees. Several habitats can be sampled without treating the park as a specialist reserve. Share the trails with walkers, cyclists and families, then pause at an appropriate lakeside place. Check the latest facilities notices before travelling: the current top-of-page notice says both hire scooters are unavailable, despite older text farther down the same page.
