Charville Lane and Yeading Brook, Hillingdon

Ten Acre Wood and Meadows brings woodland birdwatching and a look along Yeading Brook into the same Hillingdon visit. Kingfisher, Great Spotted Woodpecker and Nuthatch are among the birds named by the Trust. The oak plantation and hazel coppice provide a different setting from the adjacent open meadow, while the river can be watched without entering its banks. Begin at Charville Lane or follow the established connection from Gutteridge Wood, allowing time to stop at the woodland edge rather than treating the linked reserves as a race.

Getting there: The U7 stops in Charville Lane and the 90 stops in Kingshill Avenue. Hillingdon station is another approach via Gutteridge Wood; check the complete walking connection. Keep clear of grazing cattle and use the named public entrance rather than an unsignposted riverbank shortcut.
