North-east of Oxford
Sydlings Copse brings an unusual range of habitats into a compact reserve north-east of Oxford. Ancient woodland and limestone grassland sit alongside reedbed, fen and a patch of heath, where BBOWT describes flocks of Linnet around the gorse. Great Spotted Woodpecker and Great Tit are also in its site species list. A marked wildlife walk provides a way to explore the contrasts within the reserve. Access involves a walk along a bridleway from the road, followed by uneven and sometimes steep ground. It suits a modest woodland-and-heath stop rather than an arrival directly beside a viewing hide.
