Hall Bower, near Berry Brow, Huddersfield
Stirley is a former dairy farm being managed for wildlife-friendly grazing on Huddersfield's Pennine fringe. Yorkshire Wildlife Trust lists spring Little Owl, winter Kestrel and summer Swallow, with Barn Owl also mentioned over the rough grassland. Public rights of way offer a farmland birding walk through the wider reserve, while the barn centre and on-site parking have separate event arrangements. Plan an ordinary visit around the public paths and an off-site or public-transport arrival. The hillsides can be steep, muddy and uneven, and livestock are part of the habitat management rather than a reason to enter their fields.
