Portstewart Strand visitor entrance · BT55 7PG
The Portstewart Strand dune-and-estuary route offers public coastal birdwatching towards the Bann. The National Trust names Curlew, Sanderling and Redshank around the estuary, without giving individual seasons for those birds. Follow the mapped landward route and watch feeding areas without approaching the flocks. The sandy dune paths include steep sections, gates and steps, so the estuary circuit differs from a short beach visit. The hide mentioned across the river requires a separate key and approach; it is not reached by crossing the water. Check the daily car-park calendar before choosing how to arrive.
