Fishing Lodge arrival, north of Northampton
Pitsford Water offers a substantial wetland visit around the reservoir’s quieter nature-reserve bays. The Trust’s winter update describes Tufted Ducks, Coots and Wigeon replacing the exposed-margin waders as the reservoir fills. Non-members can visit with a day permit bought through the Fishing Lodge arrangements; membership is not a requirement. Choose a shorter hide visit or allow enough time for the complete seven-mile circuit. Grass paths become muddy and sections around Scaldwell Bay can flood after heavy rain. Keep to the paths and do not enter floodwater or the reservoir’s soft muddy margins.
