Rushden Lakes boardwalk arrival
Nene Wetlands links former gravel workings and floodplain habitats around Rushden and Irthlingborough. Start from the Rushden Lakes boardwalk and use the established lake paths for a shorter introduction to the reserve. Great Crested Grebe, Gadwall and Kingfisher are individually named in the Trust’s site list. The connected lakes and meadows offer different watching settings within the same wetland destination. The visitor centre closed at the end of September 2026 for refurbishment and restructuring; no reopening date is confirmed in the announcement. Plan an outdoor visit and check current path notices before extending it.
