Mountsorrel
Mountsorrel and Rothley Marshes is a developing floodplain reserve beside the River Soar. Scrapes, wet grassland, pools and young wet woodland are being managed with natural flooding in mind. The Trust lists Grey Heron, Mallard and Skylark among the likely year-round birds. A viewing platform provides the intended place to watch over the meadows and scrapes; visitors are asked not to enter the main meadow. This is a separate named reserve from nearby Cossington Meadows, with its own public approach from Mountsorrel. Bird activity and the appearance of the pools vary with water levels.
