Lane opposite the Cock of Tupsley, east Hereford
Lugg Meadow is a surviving Lammas-meadow landscape beside Hereford, with hay grassland, river edges and a long history of shared grazing. Kingfisher, Sand Martin and Skylark are named in the Trust’s reserve species list. Begin from the signed lane approach and choose a permitted meadow-edge or riverside path. Upper Lugg’s growing hay must be avoided from late April through July, while Lower Lugg is restricted to public rights of way from March to the end of July. Winter floods can make the whole meadow dangerously inaccessible. This is one combined meadow destination, including its linked river habitat.
