Bodenham Lake gives a Herefordshire birding day an open-water focus, with public hides looking towards a protected wildlife refuge. The Trust names Great Crested Grebe, Wigeon and Reed Warbler among the site’s birds. Choose one of the two easy-access paths from the car park or a permitted orchard and meadow walk. The western end is closed to public access to limit disturbance, but it can be watched from the hides. Seasonal sheep grazing adds another reason to follow signs and manage dogs carefully. Use the signed visitor approach and keep the lakeshore visit within the authorised routes.
