Western nature-reserve ponds, reached from Lochore Meadows visitor arrival
The western wetland reserve at Lochore Meadows provides a specific birding destination within the much larger country park. The SOC distinguishes its nature-reserve ponds from the main recreational loch and names Great Crested Grebe, Teal and Gadwall there. Follow the established walking routes towards the reserve and viewing hide, using the visitor centre for current directions. The dedicated wetland watching area is the focus for this birding visit, with the wider park’s play areas, golf course and other attractions outside that route. Reclaimed mining land now supports a mixture of open water, reeds and wooded margins.
